I’ve been driving by this field for a couple of years now, and have never noticed it this yellow. I stopped and took a few shots from the road, but I’m going to try to stop by the house next door and see if they’ll let me in so I can lie in it and look at the sky (and take a few more photos) :)

So I took the short drive over to Talladega Superspeedway this past weekend for NASCAR, which they aptly named Hallow-Dega. It was fun, as shooting NASCAR always is. The only problem is that NASCAR instituted some new rules about bump-drafting in the wake of Carl Edwards’ finish-line crash there earlier this year. Because of the new rules, the drivers were very cautious, which made for a boring day of racing. But the fans sure did make it interesting.

It was truly a pleasure to photograph Abby and Chris today in Roswell — at a downtown restuarant and at the Chattahoochee River Park — for their engagement portraits. The autumn colors made a for a really nice background and the kayak ride in the river was a lot of fun to shoot.

This beautiful sunset happened Sunday night. Just as it stopped raining, the sun came through the clouds and just turned everything orange. I knew I only had a couple of minutes to capture it, so I went to where I knew a puddle would be — right in front of my studio. Speaking of which, should be ready to go in a couple of days (fingers crossed!).

Man, today was awesome. I started at The Getty (www.getty.edu), which is one of the most interesting museums I’ve ever been to. Not only did it have multiple galleries of all sorts of art, it also had this immaculate garden that just transcends you into another, otherwordly place. It was beautiful. I then stopped by Santa Monica before ending my day at Venice Beach. Definitely a day I’ll remember forever.

The top picture is of a guy in Venice who kindly allowed me to photograph him simply standing against this great red wall. There was just something about his gritty appearance that seemed to match the wall. The second photograph is of one of the buildings at The Getty; the third one is also from Venice — just a band playing in the crowd-filled street; and the bottom photograph is Los Angeles as seen from The Getty.

Steam and a perfect sunrise made for a pretty cool picture Saturday morning just outside Griffin.

I know there’s a few people that end up on here time and time again, and Clint ranks up there with the best of them. It’s funny, ’cause when I start taking pictures of him, he’s so rigid and everything looks so forced. But then he relaxes and I get something like this — something that I think shows a part of who he is. Maybe it’s just me. Anyways, this was shot outside of Amici in Madison on Friday night. No Photoshop here…just neon from the window.

Memphis’ infamous Beale Street was pretty empty about midnight Wednesday, but the sounds that have made it famous — howling blues choruses and drunken yells — were bouncing off the brick-lined street as much as the neon that adorns it.

I’ve been wanting to photograph this Fayette County fire station for a while now, and finally drove out there tonight and took a few frames. I’ve never seen red light like this coming out of a building, and I just knew that it would have this crazy glow if shot at night with a long exposure. I think it might make a better picture in the summer because that tree will have leaves on it. Long exposures are always fun.

Madison is always beautiful, but the fall is an especially great time to take a walk downtown. The rain (which was much needed), really brought out the colors of the leaves and made for a good picture. Let me know what you think.
