Chris Polk, a pre-engineering major at Clayton State, studies biology in the University Center on Jan. 11, the first day of spring semester. I took this picture for the student newspaper, The Bent Tree. I am now co-editor-in-chief of the paper, and I’m hoping to do some exciting things with it. What’s not exciting this semester is that I’m taking Spanish…..say a prayer for me.

If you read this blog regularly, you’ve seen Clint on here a couple of times. Today, Clint and I took a drive out in the country and visited a few places we used to hang out when we were younger. This is on Hard Labor Creek near the infamous “Spillway,” where many a Morgan County teenager (including myself) swam and acted like fools on humid summer nights. As we were leaving, I noticed this beautiful light coming from the setting sun. I told Clint that this picture looked like a Carhartt advertisement, except for his Nike sweatshirt.

I got to hang out with one my favorite people today — you know, one of those friends where you just wanna hang out just a little longer, to tell one more story. I wanna get all those people together one day and just have a party.

This is about as exciting is it got for me while shooting NASCAR this past weekend in Daytona. Now don’t get me wrong, I love shooting racing, and this was no exception. But if there’s no wrecks where you’re stationed to shoot (when shooting with a team of photographers), it can get pretty boring. So this photo pretty much sums up how I felt about shooting turns 1 and 2.

Man, today was awesome. I started at The Getty (www.getty.edu), which is one of the most interesting museums I’ve ever been to. Not only did it have multiple galleries of all sorts of art, it also had this immaculate garden that just transcends you into another, otherwordly place. It was beautiful. I then stopped by Santa Monica before ending my day at Venice Beach. Definitely a day I’ll remember forever.
The top picture is of a guy in Venice who kindly allowed me to photograph him simply standing against this great red wall. There was just something about his gritty appearance that seemed to match the wall. The second photograph is of one of the buildings at The Getty; the third one is also from Venice — just a band playing in the crowd-filled street; and the bottom photograph is Los Angeles as seen from The Getty.

Steam and a perfect sunrise made for a pretty cool picture Saturday morning just outside Griffin.
