I noticed these two guys welding at the top of these columns as I was driving out of Madison today on my way back home. But as I opened my trunk and grabbed a camera, both of them crawled down for their lunch break. So I drove around my hometown (though I’m close to claiming Griffin as my hometown), visited a few friends, and came back. It’s nothing spectacular, but I thought it was cool.

So I finally started back to school on Monday at Clayton State. It’s been nearly seven years since I’ve been a full-time student, so I’ve got a few cobwebs to clear out. I’ve got around 50 hours of school left, which works out to about three semesters. I’m going to apply for some internships, so that may stretch out another semester. Hopefully, I’ll have some more interesting photos to post on here soon.
While killing time in a Tuscaloosa, Ala., hotel on Friday, I rediscovered how incredibly cool Magnum P.I. was. A friend of mine said he doesn’t hold a candle to MacGyver, but we all know Magnum is in a league of his own. The Ferrari, the mustache … how could you go wrong?
Playing around with long exposures.
I was on an assignment for the paper on Tuesday when I stumbled upon this lens, an ancient Nikkor 55mm micro lens (other camera manufacturers call these lenses macro, but Nikon insists on micro). Anyways, this particular piece of glass was attached to an old Nikon FM2, which was on the counter at this book store we were doing a story on. I know the owner, Chris Curry (actually, just one of the owners), and she said the lens came with a box of mostly-broken camera gear she purchased that she is using for decoration. I put the lens on my D2H and went to town using it. The good thing about Nikons is that all their lenses fit all their cameras (Nikkor is Nikon’s lens company). Chris said I could have it, which was awesome. I’ve been needing a micro lens, and you can’t beat free. This other picture, taken with my new lens, is of my dog Charlie. I need to publish a book of all the photos I have of this dog.
