I’ve been driving by this field for a couple of years now, and have never noticed it this yellow. I stopped and took a few shots from the road, but I’m going to try to stop by the house next door and see if they’ll let me in so I can lie in it and look at the sky (and take a few more photos) :)

Man, today was awesome. I started at The Getty (www.getty.edu), which is one of the most interesting museums I’ve ever been to. Not only did it have multiple galleries of all sorts of art, it also had this immaculate garden that just transcends you into another, otherwordly place. It was beautiful. I then stopped by Santa Monica before ending my day at Venice Beach. Definitely a day I’ll remember forever.

The top picture is of a guy in Venice who kindly allowed me to photograph him simply standing against this great red wall. There was just something about his gritty appearance that seemed to match the wall. The second photograph is of one of the buildings at The Getty; the third one is also from Venice — just a band playing in the crowd-filled street; and the bottom photograph is Los Angeles as seen from The Getty.

So I’m back home after what feels like a lot longer than the four days I’ve been gone. I still haven’t gotten used to all this travel — considering I had never flown before this year — but I’m getting the hang of it.

I’ve had a lot on my mind the past couple days, so I took one of those (really) late night drives tonight, and almost wrecked my car trying to stop to get this shot. It’s not every day that the moonlight reflects off the water like this. It was like God was smiling down on me, saying “here’s a little gift for you….have a nice day.”

It was so beautiful driving home from my parents house on Sunday on GA 83. I think the area between Madison to Jackson is one of the prettiest stretches of road in the state. I saw these horses on a little farm just south of Monticello and stopped to get a few shots. It was so cool because they came over and let me pet them for a minute…I just wish I would’ve had an apple. Anyways, I’ll be posting some more photos from this past weekend over the next few days.
I’ve seen the pictures in the paper and the footage on the evening news, but I didn’t come to appreciate how bad this drought is until I walked out on what used to be Lake Lanier today. I was in town for a PR assignment, but I made it a point to check out the lake (what’s left of it anyway).

I found these looking through some pictures I took while living in Hartwell, Ga., and working for the Hartwell Sun newspaper back in 2004. The top picture was a rare opportunity for a photojournalist — getting inside a women’s jail. I was doing a story on these women who would basically take a church service to the women inside the Hart County Jail. This was my favorite picture of the few that I took.

The bottom photo is a sunset I shot while driving home from work one evening. The sunsets on Lake Hartwell were absolutely beautiful.

I got really bored tonight, so I decided to go to Atlanta and get a nighttime skyline shot. I know it’s been done a thousand times, but I wanted to do it myself. This was taken from the Fifth Street overpass near Georgia Tech. It wasn’t a lot of fun trying to get this shot because I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to be where I was standing, and I had to deal with shooting through a fence. Anyways, I can now say I’ve shot the Atlanta skyline — whatever that’s worth.
I was on top of the a parking deck in downtown Griffin tonight shooting down on a street party when I saw this. Man I like pretty colors.
