Last weekend, I helped my friend Pouya Dianat with the shooting of his short film, GEARS. He and his friend/roommate, Jonathan Cribbs, wrote the script and cast it. What was interesting about the making of GEARS is that Pouya used DSLR’s to capture the video. To put this in layman’s terms, he used cameras that were traditionally used for only still photographs (the kinds of cameras I use). Recently, several DSLR models have been released that can shoot still photographs, as well as capture HD video. Pouya used Nikon D3 camera bodies and Nikkor as well as Carl Zeiss lenses for the film. Audio was captured externally and will be added in during the editing process. This portion of the film was shot in abandoned factory (Thomaston Mills) in Griffin.

It all started a couple years ago, when a couple of local guys starting talking trash over who could build the fastest boxcar (I’m pretty sure a fair amount of alcohol was involved). A few years later, it’s turned into a major (by Griffin standards, anyway) event, involving several boxcars—though some of these don’t qualify as boxcars in my book. :)

This explains why computer’s been acting funny lately …

My good friend Mike G. shot this of his son Conner recently, and I just fell in love with it. It just brings back so many memories of going to the park with my Dad. It looks like some of the color has been removed, like at the end of the slide, but this photo has not been altered. I hope you enjoy, and let Mike know what you think by leaving a comment.

Yes, there’s a box car race named after the street I live on. And yes, the participants are grown men. In this particular heat, Aaron Scibetta, center, grimaces while trying to take the lead away from his brother, Jordan. Stay tuned for next year’s race.

My old college roommate and all around great guy Mike G. came to town this weekend. We went up to the Big City of ATL on Friday and couldn’t help posing a picture by these ginormous (yes, that’s actually a word) billboards on Peachtree Street. I swear that guy on the left looks like Roger Federer.

I wish I had it this good.

I got bored tonight and drug Nathan out in a field to play around with some long exposures. I thought this frame was kind of fitting, considering Nathan is sometimes his own worst enemy.
I went to the first birthday party of Tina’s great niece on Sunday. Makes me want some more cake just looking at it.
I took this other day while Tina and I were enjoying some of this beautiful weather we’ve been having. I used a small Kodak point-and-shoot camera Tina bought for her son, Jonathan. It blows me away how good some of these little cameras are.
