I was so excited to get to photograph the Mosses recently, especially with the addition of little Sophie Belle. They are truly a beautiful family.

So I took the short drive over to Talladega Superspeedway this past weekend for NASCAR, which they aptly named Hallow-Dega. It was fun, as shooting NASCAR always is. The only problem is that NASCAR instituted some new rules about bump-drafting in the wake of Carl Edwards’ finish-line crash there earlier this year. Because of the new rules, the drivers were very cautious, which made for a boring day of racing. But the fans sure did make it interesting.

Since I’m now only a block from the high school football stadium, I strolled over to take a few frames of the Spalding High/Mary Persons game tonight. I saw the fog collecting around the lights and knew it would make for some interesting photos.
It was truly a pleasure to photograph Abby and Chris today in Roswell — at a downtown restuarant and at the Chattahoochee River Park — for their engagement portraits. The autumn colors made a for a really nice background and the kayak ride in the river was a lot of fun to shoot.
I try to at least photograph one high school football game each year … and so last Friday, I went out to game between The Heritage School and Griffin Christian High School. The atmosphere is a bit different than going to a Griffin High School game, or any other large high school, but the small field and crowd size really give the game an intimate feel. It was really nice to be there.
I’ve always wanted to photograph this old textile mill, which is right off High Falls Road in East Griffin. And after seeing this slideshow of beautiful photographs of old dilapidated buildings in Detroit , I felt compelled to do so.
The mill, which was built in the late nineteenth century and operated until the 1950′s, was one of many owned by the Dundee family in Griffin. It stands there like the Parthenon — a symbol of what once was. The textile industry was the fabric that made up this city — it was Griffin. The mills built and sustained the middle class in this community, like the industry did in many other communities across the country. But the last remaining thread of that fabric was destroyed earlier this year when Springs Industries — who purchased several of the old Dundee mills years ago — closed it’s last Griffin plant.

This beautiful sunset happened Sunday night. Just as it stopped raining, the sun came through the clouds and just turned everything orange. I knew I only had a couple of minutes to capture it, so I went to where I knew a puddle would be — right in front of my studio. Speaking of which, should be ready to go in a couple of days (fingers crossed!).

I haven’t posted any shots of Sam in awhile…actually since he was a kitten. He can be tricky to photograph, considering he’s always pawing at the camera and won’t sit still for anything. Maybe one day he’ll be as used to the camera as Charlie, who is arguably the most photographed dog in the world.
I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of my friends Elizabeth Chewning and Todd Benz this past weekend in Atlanta. And to top it off, I was able to shoot alongside my longtime friend Jason Miczek (http://miczekphoto.com) — I think we really came away with some nice frames. It was a beautiful ceremony in an amazing church — Christ the King Cathedral in Atlanta. They held their reception at The Carter Center, which is also a wonderful place. I’ve known both Elizabeth and Todd for a few years, and I’m so happy I was able be a part of their wedding.

I got to hang out with one my favorite people today — you know, one of those friends where you just wanna hang out just a little longer, to tell one more story. I wanna get all those people together one day and just have a party.
